« Stochastic inflation and the probability of large density perturbations »

I will present an alternative to the usual perturbative approach to describe primordial density perturbations from inflation in the very early universe. In stochastic inflation we treat quantum fluctuations as a random noise term driving the coarse-grained fields, and cosmic expansion, on large scales. Combined with the delta-N approach to predict the primordial density perturbation, this enables us to describe the full probability distribution function for the density field. This can be applied, for example, to describe the abundance of primordial black holes from inflation.
